I have to use Apple’s iChat application, not because it’s the best at text IMs (because it’s not) but because it is the best at audio and video chats. Getting the honest-to-goodness video phone we were promised in 1956 has been a joy. But now I can enjoy iChat even more. That’s because of an iChat extension called “Chax”:http://www.ksuther.com/chax/.
Chax adds the single most obviously missing interface element of iChat: tabbed chats. We love tabs in our browsers and many other apps — so why not in iChat? Now you don’t need to ask that question anymore.
Chax does lots of other stuff, too. But the tabbing is 95% of what I’ve been waiting for.
